Our Story

Opened in 1972 as an ambitious project of a group of local entrepreneurs

The Lido Azzurro was the third 50m indoor Olympic swimming pool in Italy (after Rome and Naples). Today it is the only one in the province of Monza and Brianza and Milan, with over 50 years of sporting heritage.
It was built on the land of the noble Bagatti family, near Villa Bagatti, now part of the Grugnotorto Park undergoing redevelopment.

The Origins

It all began in 1970 with the foundation of Milano 2000 S.p.A., a company dedicated to the construction and management of sports facilities. Among the partners were the Bagatti brothers, who contributed land, the Nardi and Moro brothers, and Giuseppe Longhi, known as “Peppo Sub”.

1972

The Lido Azzurro opened to the public and quickly became a reference point for swimming and diving activities throughout Lombardy, winning the affection of the community from day one.

Sporting Success

Since 1974, world records and medals have reached television screens all over the world

Since 1974, the Lido Azzurro has been the scene of a series of sporting triumphs up to the present day.

Evolution and Current Passion

In 1987, the company was transformed into Milano 2000 S.r.l., and in 1990 a major renovation was carried out under the direction of Peppo Longhi. In 2009, a group of friends, passionate and loyal to the pool, took over its management, and on 31 December 2010, the current Lido Azzurro Varedo S.r.l. was born. Thus, with over 50 years of history, we continue to be committed to sporting excellence, integrating NPVaredo for elite courses and a wellness area that invites total well-being.
